Federal officials report that they've found children as young as six years old working on farms across the country.  Hey, who says there's no jobs!

A new study claims that people who smoke shortly after getting up in the morning are more likely to get cancer than those who smoke their first cigarette later in the day.   Which also means that those who wait to smoke later in the day stand a better chance of getting up in the morning.


It was in August of 1861 that the Federal income tax went into effect.  It was also 150 years ago this month that Webster added a new word to the dictionary:  loophole.


President Obama is embarking on a bus tour of Minnesota and Iowa.   The focus of the tour is on jobs.  The president will be filling out applications at each stop.


The Iowa State Fair is featuring a new snack this year.  It's Fried Butter on a Stick.  Also new at the fair this year is the Heart Bypass Surgery Booth.
 

Michele Bachmann has won the Iowa Straw Poll.  The Straw Poll is one step up from last week's Sippee Cup Poll.


Tim Pawlenty has dropped out of the presidential race.  I guess when you finish 3rd in the Iowa Straw Poll you start to see the handwriting on the barn. 




Another GOP contender has officially thrown his hat in the ring:  Texas governor Rick Perry or as he's also known, Bush Light.


"Rise of the Planet of the Apes" was once again the box office winner this weekend, taking in $27.5 million dollars, just ahead of "Large Coke", which made $24 million.
