Immediately following the president's speech, there were responses from the Republican Party and the Tea Party, followed by a red carpet analysis from Joan Rivers and C-Span's Fashion Police.
Democrats and Republicans used to sit on opposite sides in the chamber for the president's speech. Last night, members of both parties were commingled throughout the chamber. That's why the aisles were strung with caution tape.
As President Obama made his way down the aisle to the podium, he stopped and hugged many of the House members. Actually, he was checking the Republicans' breath for venom.
Did you ever wonder why the Sargent At Arms never gets promoted to 1st Lieutenant?
The bi-partisan tactics are really getting nasty. Nancy Pelosi was caught in the House chamber yesterday putting a whoopee cushion on John Boehner's chair.
Did you notice House Speaker John Boehner sitting behind the president? He'd point at Obama, then use a hand sign on his forehead to spell out L for loser.
I enjoyed the subtle things President Obama did last night, like replacing the presidential seal on the podium with an enlarged copy of his birth certificate.
Al Franken still has a lot of Saturday Night Live left in him. You could take one look and tell he was thinking, "I could have made this speech much funnier".
Later, after Michelle Bachman gave her Tea Party rebuttal speech, Al called and said, "You're definitely not ready for prime time".
Did you notice that Michelle Bachman didn't look at the camera during her response? She definitely had that deer off to the right of the headlights look in her eyes.
Here are the figures from the state of the union address: Democrat cheers and applause: 67 minutes; Obama's actual speech: 13 seconds.
This is also the time of year when governors give a "state of the state" address, mayors give a "state of the city" address, and Brett Favre gives a "state of the appendage" address.
...of course Brett will phone his in.

This just in: an Illinois state court of appeals has ruled that Rahm Emmanuel does not meet the requirements to be Oprah Winfrey's half-brother.
On Monday, an Illinois appellate court ruled that Rahm Emmanuel could not run for mayor of Chicago. Yesterday, the Illinois Supreme Court said that Rahm's name can be put back on the ballot. They also ruled that Bears 2nd string QB Todd Collins can't go back into a game until 2013.
Jessie Ventura is suing the TSA. He's objecting to a recent pat down at an airport. Jessie says he didn't mind being patted, but he thought the pile driver and body slam were way out of line.
.....that's all for now. Thanks for stopping by!
